This Week’s Highlight: First Nations First Community Consultation

The Australia Council for the Arts (Australia Council) is the Federal Government’s principal arts investment, development, and advisory body. It is seeking expert assistance in responding to the National Cultural Policy, Pillar 1 – First Nations First: Recognising and respecting the crucial place of First Nations stories at the centre of Australia’s arts and culture.

The response requires national community consultation from July through October this year to formulate the most effective way of implementing First Nations First and future investment frameworks.

This Request for Tender (RFT) seeks the services of a consultant to work with the Australia Council to undertake extensive consultation with First Nations arts and cultural sectors.

The successful tenderer must demonstrate experience in working with First Nations communities and cultural protocols along with report writing and the necessary skills, resources, experience, financial capacity, and relevant licences and accreditations and a familiarity with the Federal Government’s National Cultural Policy.

The Australia Council encourages First Nations-led tenderers to apply.

The successful tenderer will create a methodology relevant to First Nations data collection and measurements, using qualitative and quantitative research methods. This must ensure an inclusive consultation across a broad section of the community including men, women, non-binary, LGBTQIA+, young people, and creatives of all abilities and disabilities.

The contract is for six months with work expected to start on 17 July 2023.

The closing time and date for responses is 2pm ACT local time on 26 June 2023.
