Engineering Business were engaged to help two Western Australian hydrographic survey companies, Guardian Geomatics and EGS Survey, be successfully appointed to Australia’s HydroScheme Industry Partnership Program (HIPP) in February 2020.
The HydroScheme Industry Partnership Program is a $150 million Government investment in Australia’s commercial hydrographic industry over the next five years.
Administered by the Australian Hydrographic Office, the panel of seven hydrographic survey companies, will be supporting Defence in conducting maritime surveys to produce digital charts of the Australian seafloor. These charts will enable safe navigation for mariners and support Australia’s maritime industry.
One of the key objectives of this tender, and most Defence tenders, is contracted suppliers must provide their Australian industry involvement in major capability projects. EGS Survey and Guardian Geomatics both contracted Engineering Business to successfully execute their Australian Industry Capability (AIC) Plans, as part of their application to the HIPP panel.
Engineering Business worked to develop, evaluate and articulate both organisations Australian industry involvement and highlight their links with manufacturers and suppliers in their AIC plan.

AIC plans are an increasingly crucial part of the ongoing Defence push to plan and forecast Australian industry opportunities and benefits that contracted Defence suppliers will provide. The flow on effects from an organisations’ procurement such as employment, choice of supply chain, technology transfer, education and research or indigenous participation, must be demonstrated in the AIC plan.
