In amidst the current media fuss over a proposed fence at Parliament House, is a significant amount of other refurbishment and upgrade works forging ahead. Works include an emergency generator upgrade and re-developments of the public carpark and forecourt for which a Managing Contractor is sought. Linked in with this RFT is a separate requirement for an Independent Commissioning agent for the generator upgrade. Both these tenders alone are budgeted at over $30mill. A further package of work has been released this week for Water Treatment Services which also includes maintenance of the pool, spa, water feature and pump room. With a report released last year estimating $330 million would be required to ‘rescue’ an aging Parliament House…its worth watching this space for further opportunities.
