This Week’s Highlight: National Grain Storage Development Project

The Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) is dedicated to driving the profitability and sustainability of Australia’s grain industry. Through investments in research, development, and extension, the GDRC aims to enhance the productivity and competitiveness of grain growers.

The GDRC is seeking proposals for the National Grain Storage Development and Extension (NGSE) project. This initiative focuses on expanding and improving on-farm grain storage. The tenderer will be required to deliver and manage the project.

By November 2029, the NGSE targets 910 grain growers to adopt improvements in at least one of the following deliverable areas:

  1. Invest in On-Farm Grain Storage: Develop tools to assist decision-making by estimating payback periods and ROI for various storage systems.
  2. Grain Price Improvement Opportunities: Use probability analysis and case studies to identify profitable opportunities in sale timing, segregation, blending, and cleaning.
  3. Best Practice Management for Pests and Disease: Reduce spoilage, enhance pest and disease management, and curb fumigant resistance through education and training.
  4. Development Activities for Grain Storage: Improve grain storage outcomes through targeted development activities.
  5. Health and Safety Knowledge: Develop and deliver courses and materials to enhance health and safety practices in grain storage.
  6. Industry Capacity and Capability: Train staff on technical knowledge related to grain storage.
  7. Monitoring and Evaluation: Collect metrics to assess the effectiveness of investments and identify future opportunities.

Tenders will be evaluated on their:

The closing time and date for responses will remain open until the 9th of September 2024.
