This Week’s Highlight: Digital Marketplace Panel

The BuyICT portal serves as the Australian Government’s primary platform for managing procurement activities within the digital and ICT sectors. It connects government agencies with industry professionals, offering a streamlined, transparent system for issuing Requests for Tenders, managing contracts, and fostering collaboration between government and industry

The portal is managed by the Digital Transformation Agency (DTA), which is responsible for driving digital innovation across the federal government. The DTA’s mandate includes delivering efficient, user-focused services, improving government service delivery, and supporting the broader digital economy through initiatives like the Digital Marketplace Panel.

The DTA is seeking applications through a Request for Tender (RFT) to refresh the Digital Marketplace Panel 2 (DMP 2). This refresh aims to expand panel membership by onboarding new sellers and allowing current members to broaden their offerings across additional modules and categories. DMP 2 simplifies the procurement of professional and ICT services, providing agencies with access to a wide range of suppliers for projects in software engineering, cybersecurity, data analytics, program management, and more.

The BuyICT portal is at the heart of this initiative. It allows sellers to register, update profiles, and bid on procurement opportunities. The system ensures transparency and fairness while enabling government agencies to efficiently match their needs with qualified suppliers. The portal supports SMEs by making it easier to access federal projects and submit proposals for work. Through the BuyICT platform, sellers can indicate their service categories, demonstrate compliance with policies like the Indigenous Procurement Policy, and provide case studies to highlight their capabilities.

Applicants for the DMP 2 refresh must demonstrate their expertise in relevant service categories, submit detailed financial and compliance documentation, and provide examples of past work to showcase their capacity to deliver high-quality services. Proposals will be assessed based on technical capability, cost, alignment with government policies, and social impact considerations, such as supporting Indigenous enterprises or implementing sustainable practices.

This is a critical opportunity for businesses to join the federal ICT procurement ecosystem and contribute to Australia’s digital transformation efforts.

The closing time and date for responses will remain open until the 6th of February 2025.
