The Department of Defence has an ongoing requirement for the supply, warehousing, and distribution of Medical and Dental Consumables and Pharmaceuticals (MDC&P) to support the Australian Defence Force.
To address this requirement, Defence has issued a comprehensive Request for Tender (RFT) to supply MDC&P. This opportunity is a retender, seeking to engage suppliers for an initial six-year contract, with up to a further four years of optional extensions.
The scope of this contract encompasses several key areas:
- Provision of Medical and Dental Consumables: This includes the supply of a wide range of products, including primary health care medical items, ward items, theatre products, pathology products, dental products, and other miscellaneous products.
- Provision of Pharmaceuticals: Suppliers are expected to provide all available pharmaceuticals approved for procurement by the Commonwealth. This includes both Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved products and those not approved by the TGA but deemed necessary for specific needs.
- Management of the supply chain: Effective supply chain management is critical to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of MDC&P, including logistics planning, inventory management and distribution.
- Provision of Support Resources: Suppliers must provide necessary support resources to ensure the smooth operation of the supply chain, including personnel, technical data, packaging, facilities, and computer support required.
- Project and Quality Management: The supplier must have a Quality Management System certified to ISO 9001:2016 and shall manage the quality program in accordance with the approved Support Services Management Plan.
- Health, Safety and Environment Management: The Contractor must ensure that any use, handling, or storage of Problematic Substances is approved and compliant with environmental and safety regulations and must report and manage any incidents or hazards related to these substances in accordance with Commonwealth guidelines.
