This Week’s Highlight: Defence Intelligence Fusion Software

The Department of Defence, through its Defence Digital Group, plays a crucial role in maintaining Australia’s defence capabilities. The group integrates digital solutions to improve situational awareness and decision-making for the Australian Defence Force (ADF). The Distributed Ground Station – Australia (DGS-AUS) is one such facility, providing real-time intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance support.

The Department of Defence is seeking to procure a Commercial off the Shelf or Military off the Shelf Intelligence Fusion Software Solution for the DGS-AUS. This procurement focuses on architectural and design documentation, installation, configuration, and customization, ensuring the solution is tailored to meet the project’s specific needs. The purpose of this procurement is to test potential software solutions that can meet the requirements for Multi-Intelligence Fusion.

This solution will enhance the ADF’s ability to integrate, analyze, and share multi-intelligence data, offering near real-time situational awareness to decision-makers. It is part of a Risk Reduction Activity to evaluate various software solutions, which will help shape future phases of the DGS-AUS project.

The software is designed to integrate data from various intelligence sources into a single platform. Known as an intelligence fusion tool, it aggregates, processes, and analyzes data from sensors and systems like satellite imagery, signals intelligence, electronic intelligence, and human intelligence. By combining these diverse data streams, the software creates a comprehensive view of the operational environment.

The core capabilities of the software include:

  • Data Aggregation: Collecting raw data from multiple sources into one system.
  • Data Analysis and Fusion: Identifying patterns and combining information to produce actionable insights.
  • Integration with Existing Systems: Ensuring compatibility with ADF and allied networks, supporting seamless data sharing with partners like the Five Eyes community.

The procurement process includes not just the software itself but also the provision of necessary documentation, support for installation, and any required customization or configuration. This includes deploying the software in a secure development environment, adjusting it to meet operational needs, and providing ongoing technical support during testing.

This software will be key in enhancing DGS-AUS’s ability to provide timely and accurate intelligence, ultimately supporting Australia’s national security and defense operations.

Defence advises tenderers that the estimated value of the procurement activity related to this RFT is $2 million.

The closing time and date for responses will remain open until the 6th of November 2024.
