Within the Department of Defence, the Directorate of Estate Works undertakes a rolling program of upgrade and refurbishment of Defence’s establishments across the country. These projects range from civil works to asbestos removal, fencing, landscaping, building and construction.
This week, Defence has issued five Invitations to Register Interest (ITRI) for the Joint Health Command Garrison Facilities Upgrade Project as Head Contractor across the following sites (estimated values are shown in brackets):
– Victoria: Puckapunyal ($20 – $25mill), Simpson ($16-$21mill)
– Queensland: Townsville ($12-$17mill), Enoggera ($6-$11mill), Oakey ($10-$15mill)
The overall project aims to provide fit-for-purpose, contemporary healthcare facilities and is intended to address current deficiencies around condition and functionality. The works involved include construction services for a range of new buildings and refurbishment of existing health centre solutions as well as demolition of some existing health centres. Building Code 2016 and WHS accreditation scheme will apply, and the department is open to joint bids. Note that each ITRI is being run as a seperate procurement and must be bid for seperately.
All ITRIs are due 11 Dec 18, and are the first stage in a two stage procurement process, so tenderers must bid at the ITRI stage to be considered for the full Request for Tender.
More broadly, Defence is also holding Industry briefing sessions on the Estate Works Program over the period 12 November – 22 November 2018 to provide industry with an overview of the industry engagement process and an indication of upcoming work within each region. The briefings will be held across several states and will cover the Estate Works Program procurement process and provide guidance on responding to tenders.
