The Department of Defence runs a rolling Estate Works Program which provides for the continuous refurbishment of Defence establishments across the country. This program covers a range of work that includes, asbestos removal, demolitions, building services and as seen over these last few weeks fire safety remediation. Two Requests for Tender (RFT) for fire safety remediation are due to close this week (Randwick and Geelong), however another 3 opportunities have just been issued for Defence RAAF bases in Townsville, Queensland and Richmond in NSW as well as Lavarack Barracks in Queensland. Works are aimed at ensuring fire safety compliance within specified buildings or in the case of RAAF Richmond, within two aircraft hangars.
As with most Estate Works RFTs, the full scope of work is not available on Austender and requires the submission of a Confidentiality agreement for release. All tenderers will be required to meet the Building code 2016 and all tenders will need to include an outline of the following 4 plans, noting that work is expected to be completed within 14 – 16 weeks:
1. Site Management Plan
2. Commissioning and Handover Plan;
3. Environmental Management Plan (including ECC);
4. Quality Plan;
These RFTs are also based on Defence’s Medium works contract template, which differs from the Australian Standard construction contract, so it is important to make yourself familiar with this template if you are new to Defence RFTs.
Industry Briefs will be held at each site on the 8 November 17, and while not mandatory are highly recommended.
