This week two Requests for Tender (RFT) have been issued seeking the delivery of technical and vocational training. One is for delivery to the Australian Army, the other is for delivery to the Pacific Islands. While these RFTs are open to all Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), tenderers will need to describe how they will apply their experience and skills in these unique settings in order to be considered for contract.
The Defence RFT is specifically seeking Technical Trades for Army that include a range of ‘Base Trade’ courses such as Carpenter, Plumber, Electrician, Vehicle Mechanic and a range of ‘Advanced Trade’ courses that range from Combat Net radio repair to G-wagon vehicle mechanical maintenance. A two day industry brief is being held on 2 & 3 Nov 17 at Bandiana and includes a tour of the school facilities as well as a discussion on the Learning Management Packages to be held in a secure environment due to the sensitive nature of the material. This industry brief is highly recommended and will serve greatly in ensuring your tender is tailored to the specific requirements of the Army learning environment. Tenders are due on the 19 Dec 17 and the opportunity is for a five year contract.
Just as specialised but in a completely different environment is DFAT’s RFT for technical and vocational training in the Pacific Islands. This RFT closes 8 Jan 18 with an industry brief being held on the 2 Nov 17 in Canberra. The aim of this RFT is to improve employment outcomes for graduates and will operate in Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu. One of the important aspects in responding to this tender is to show local knowledge and cultural sensitivity that would be required to establish partnerships with local institutions. The contract timeframe is for an initial period of 4 years with option to extend for a further 4 years.
