The Sydney Harbour Federation Trust (Harbour Trust) has been consulting with the community about the renewal of Sub Base Platypus site since 2006 and is now working towards completing the final stage of the project. This follows $70 million of investment in bringing the site to its current state, involving demolition of low heritage value buildings, remediation of contamination, creation of public parkland, improved access, restoration and adaption of buildings for new uses.
This week we look at the Request for Expression of Interest (REOI), being the final stage of the Sub Base Platypus Torpedo Factory Renewal Project, seeking suitably experienced and qualified contractors to carry out the proposed re-adaptive works. This project and the Harbour Trust intend to deliver significant bpublic domain benefit through the creation of additional foreshore parkland as well as meet their obligations under the Harbour Trust’s land management and heritage obligations for the site.
The total project value inclusive of consultant, contingency and Harbour Trust internal costs are in the order of $11M and the tender process will be conducted over a two-stage process:
– Stage 1: REOI – aims to develop a short list of ‘prequalified’ contractors to provide tenders for this Project.
– Stage 2: Limited Tender – issued to those shortlist from stage 1 only.
The Stage 2 Tendering Process is targeting to occur in July/August 2021, with final contract award likely in September 2021. Works are targeted to commence in October 2021. Through this Stage 1 REOI Tender Process, all respondents are strongly encouraged to attend the site visit at Sub Base Platypus located at 118 High Street, North Sydney. The closing date for the EOI is 2nd June 2021.
