As we get used to the new ‘COVID norm’ and recommence our usual business operations and services, large scale events are back on the table. So this week we look at event management services required to run The Prime Minister’s Prizes for Science. This event is administered by the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources and is considered of great importance to the Australian Government and the broad science and education sectors in Australia. The Prizes recognise the domestic and international achievements of Australian scientists and innovators, as well as the critical role that science educators play in inspiring and encouraging students to take an interest in science and consider science as a career.
To run this event, the Department is seeking a high experienced service provider that can project manage and deliver a physical presentation dinner event and live streaming. The Event is to be held in the Great Hall of Parliament House, Canberra, annually in October. Service providers are expected to be experienced in managing events of this scale and of similar national significance. In addition to the delivery of the Event, the successful supplier will also be required to attend and present to prize recipients at a briefing session one-day prior to the Event, produce and direct a rehearsal of the Event proceedings with recipients, emcee, and direct ministerial advisers, photographers and Department representatives on the day of the Event.
The expected timeframe for delivery is 28 June to 21 November 2022 and will include the delivery of the 2021 and 2022 event with an option to extend the contract to include the event for 2023. Of note is that the event needs to be planned with the possibility of cancellation due to COVID ensuring that all suppliers maintain adequate cancellation policies. The closing date for this RFT is 15 June 2021.
