This week, Defence has approached the market on two high value, purpose built, capital works projects that are seeking to develop infrastructure to support the introduction of new Defence assets. The replacement of the RAN’s auxiliary oiler and replenishment ships, requires the support of purpose built training faclities and the introduction of the modified Gulfstream 550 and the Triton aircraft requires maintenance, storage and training facilities. Both projects are subject to Building Code 2016 and since high value, will also require compliance with the WHS Accreditation Scheme. Further details are as follows:
– Maritime Operational Support Capability (SEA1654 Ph 3): Defence is seeking Expressions of Interest from companies wishing to act as Head Contractor to develop a Training Centre and Through Life Support Facility at Randwick Barracks as an extension to the existing Navy Training Systems Centre. The works will also include minor internal refurbishment of Building 122 at the Garden Island Defence Precinct. The value is estimated at $23,000,000.00 to $30,000,000.00 with an anticipated award date to be in or about August 2018 and completion before September 2019.
– The AISREW Facilities Project and the Remotely Piloted Aircraft System Sustainment Facilities Projects (AIR555 -1 & AIR7000 Ph1B)- with the introduction into service of the modified Gulfstream 550 and the Triton, Defence is seeking a Managing Contractor to construct support facilities, the bulk of which will be at RAAF Base Edinburgh with additional facilities being constructed at RAAF Bases Tindal, Darwin and Townsville. Additional facilities will also be constructed at Cocos (Keeling) Islands. The facilities required include maintenance, warehousing, communications, training and administrative buildings. Also in the scope is the water, sewage, electricity and gas supply and a requirement to comply with the Public Works Committee Act. This is not a multi stage procurement and industry briefs are being held in both Adelaide & Darwin. The project is estimated at $500,000,000.00, with an award date anticipated in August 2018.
Tender documentation for both opportunities is supplied upon request and will require the submission of a Confidentiality Agreement.
