Infrastructure expansion continues in Western Sydney driven of course by the Western Sydney Airport (WSA) Development. This week we look at an opportunity issued by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications For the provision of Airport Building Controller Services for Western Sydney Airport
The Department is required to appoint an Airport Building Controller (ABC) in order to meet its regulatory requirements and obligations for this project. The ABC will be responsible for ensuring that activities at an airport site meet the appropriate building and engineering standards. All construction and building activities must be notified to the ABC and appropriate building activities will also require ABC approval in order to carry out the building activity. Note that, unlike other airports around Australia, the ABC for the WSA will provide advice as the Airport Site is developed. Operations at the Airport Site are not expected to commence until 2026. Additionally, to maintain independence the successful tenderer is precluded from undertaking work as a subcontractor to the Airport Lessee.
The tenderer’s technical capability is the highest weighted criteria for evaluation and the response must show demonstrated experience in similar work, extensive experience with the Building Code of Australia and appropriately qualified key personnel.
The closing date for this RFT is 15 June 2021 with an expected timeframe for Delivery being 1 July 2021 to 31 December 2024.
