This week we look at two electrical power related opportunities, one with the CSIRO and the other as part of the Defence rolling estate program.
Power Distrbution Upgrade DSS43 – The CSIRO is seeking suitably qualified and experienced service providers to upgrade the electrical distribution system on Deep Space Station 43 (DSS43) at the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex (CDSCC). The main project is to install new high-powered X and S Band transmitter systems on DSS43, to replace the existing systems and increase X-band transmitter power. A key element of the project will removal of the bulk of the existing power distribution system and replace it with a new system.
It is intended that this work be undertaken during planned DSS43A downtime in February to November 2020. A mandatory Site Visit will be held on 3/09/2019 at CDSCC and the tender is due 27 Sep 19.
Emergency Generator at Irwin Barracks WA – As part of Defence’s rolling Estate Upgrade program, the Department is seeking a service provider to supply and install a 180kVa emergency stand-by power generator on a concrete plinth at Irwin Barracks in Western Australia. This includes the provision of a new changeover switchboard and a new alarm system to notify the base when the generator is in use. Compliance with Building Code 2016 is required and a site visit is being held at Irwin Barracks on the 11 Sep 19. The work is expected to be completed within 26 weeks from Contract award. This RFT closes on the 25 Sep 19.
