Security requirements can vary significantly between departments, from the stringent regulations held by the Department of Defence to the more privacy related requirements of Human services and everything in between. There’s system security, information security and of course the physical security overlaid with all the systems that work together to either secure a building, secure groups of people or secure documentation. So it’s no surprise that government tenders will regularly include an opportunity that is security related. This week sees three very different security related Requests for Tender from three different departments:
Provision of support and maintenance services for Electronic Security Systems: This RFT is issued by the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and they are seeking support and maintenance services for Type 1 and Type 1A security systems (IAS), Electronic Access Controls Systems (EACS), CCTV installations and the associated Security network infrastructure (SNI). Of note is the certification requirement, where tenderers must be certified channel partners with Gallagher and Geutebrucke or be able to satisfy the Evaluation Committee that certification will be complete before the commencement of the Deed. The scope of work is expected to be completed between January 2020 to December 2022. An industry brief is being held on 26 Sep 19 in Barton ACT and the RFT closing date is the 14th October.
Estate Management Security Review: The National Capital Authority (NCA) is seeking to engage a suitably qualified and practical experienced service provider to conduct analyse the existing Estate management security system and report on potential improvements if required. This forms part of a periodic planned review which the department undertakes approximately every five (5) years. Consultants will be required to have baseline security clearance and a police check within the last 3 months. The closing date for this RFT is 15th October.
Security Guarding and Monitoring Services: Issued by the Attorney-General’s Department, this RFT is seeking physical security of the Department’s Head office at the Robert Garran Building at 3-5 National Circuit, Barton, ACT. Security of the building is currently managed through the provision of three guard positions two of which are located at the reception counter 24 hours a day 7 days a week and a third guard located in the basement. In addition to their guarding and reception duties, the two (2) guards at the reception counter also provide monitoring and patrol services for the Department’s other properties. In Canberra, the Department also occupies: the premises at 24 Wormald Street, Symonston; and two data centres located in Hume and Fyshwick. All three properties are monitored at the reception counter guard station at the Department’s Head office. Also of note, the Department occupies interstate premises which currently comprise the offices of the Australian Government Solicitor (AGS). Services are expected to commence on 4 November 2019, with a three year contract term. An industry briefing will be held on 26 Sep 19 in Barton ACT and the RFT closes on the 17th October.
