While our COVID situation seems to be well under control, the Australian Government remains committed to an effective roll out of the vaccine as part of the COVID-19 Vaccine and Treatment Strategy. This week sees two opportunities for vaccine administration providers to deliver safe, targeted and timely administration to populations within the Phase 1a cohort, ie the more vulnerable community groups.
The first opportunity is for a more broad Provision of COVID-19 Vaccination Administration and the second opportunity is targeted at the Vaccination Administration by Residential Aged Care Providers specifically of the AstraZenca vaccine.
The services in both opportunities include:-
– all aspects of vaccine administration detailed including a trained workforce; clinical governance arrangements; stock and inventory management; eligibility checking; scheduling of appointments to manage supply and demand; reporting including adverse event monitoring, follow-up for second dose, and record of immunisation into the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR); cold chain, physical security, and wastage;
– collaboration and cooperation with the Commonwealth’s Logistics Providers to agree on a process for receiving, collecting or distributing the Vaccines to the Vaccination Sites (as applicable); and
– the ability to source sufficient quantities of Ancillary Consumables to safely administer the Vaccine and deal with any adverse events.
Tenderers should note that this RFT provides no commitment from the Department on the number of vaccines to be administered by successful Tenderer(s). However a number of mandatory requirements apply. Tenderers must meet the required accreditation standards related to their health professional qualification and be able to comply with cold chain management requirement. Also for the first opportunity, the tenderer must have the capacity to administer 2000 vaccine doses by 31 May 2021 across at least 10 separate vaccination sites. With regards to the aged care roll out, tenderers must be compliant with Aged Care Quality standards and have a history of administering influenza vaccinations to their workforces.
The Timeframe for Delivery for the services is March 2021 – May 2021. The closing date for both RFTs is 30th April 2021.
