We live in a world saturated with data coming out of every device we touch, every website we open, every online form we fill in. Collected data fills government departments and unless there are analytic processe in place to make sense of this data, it provides no use. This week we look at an opportunity issued by the Australian Federal Police (AFP), under the Home Affairs’ Portfolio seeking industry input on Digital Material Analysis Solutions.
As a Request for Information (RFI), the AFP is seeking information from ICT vendors that could assist with the analysis of digital material gathered and/or generated in relation to AFP investigations. These investigations often result in the collection of large amounts of data, that are currently being examined manually. The AFP is seeking digital analysis solutions that will introduce greater efficiency to the process.
Respondents are asked to provide an overview of how their products (goods and services) could be integrated into the AFP’s environment – to ensure that it can effectively extract relevant investigative and intelligence insights from large amounts of information in an increasingly digitalised and data driven world. The core outcomes the AFP is seeking from this RFI process are to gain an understanding of:
– potential solution/s in digital material analysis;
– how these solutions might meet AFP’s operational and business needs;
– how the AFP could uplift its investigation and intelligence capabilities and to explore other potential opportunities.
As with all RFIs, this is not a procurement process and may not necessarily lead to any future procurement. This process allows government to gauge options and assess feasibility of its ideas. As a respondent it allows you to inform government of your capability which may in turn influence future procurement activity. In this particular RFI process, the AFP may select suitable respondents to participate in virtual demonstrations to provide further detail regarding their ICT processes and software. The purpose of the demonstrations is to view industry capabilities and match them to the AFP’s needs.
The Closing Date for this RFI is 11th March 2021.
