This week sees a wide range of construction opportunities from various agencies, nationwide. As is usually the case, the majority of new opportunities in this space are part of Defence’s estate reform program, a rolling plan of upgrades to Defence establishments across the country. However in addition to Defence Estate, there are opportunities with Defence Housing Australia who is seeking to construct five houses in Schofields NSW and the CSIRO and Airservices Australia who both require construction services for refurbishments in Victoria.
The Defence Estate Requests for Tender (RFT) offer opportunities across the country in most states, with the majority this week being undertaken in Queensland. Also of note is a construction opportunity in Vanuatu upgrading the police force infrastructure. As with all Defence establishment work, there are a few aspects to be mindful of when preparing your tender:
– Security clearances for staff and impact of base access requirements
– Heritage implications on building refurbishments
– Operational requirements of the base
– Defence tailored contracting template
Most opportunities will have an associated site visit and it’s important to take note when these are compulsory to attend. Even in the situations when an industry brief is not compulsory, it is highly recommended that you attend to ensure familiarity with the site.
