Happy New Year and welcome to 2020, another year full of tendering opportunities!
As the year kicks off and Government Departments resume activity, new Approaches to Market (ATM) are starting to hit the streets. At this point the majority of opportunities are carrying over from late last year with due dates over the coming months. However, there are also new opportunities just released and several Notices of upcoming ATMs. As you start planning business development strategies for 2020, here are three quick tips to get you going:
– Check current status of ATMs: if you were following a particular opportunity before the year end and have just come back from leave, it is worth checking Addendums. Several Requests for Tender have been extended due to the holiday period and Departments are providing updates and answers to tenderer’s questions. So make sure you are up to date.
– Check what’s planned for 2020: Posted Notices on Austender are the easiest way to see what’s coming up for 2020 in the Commonwealth space. However while the use of Notices is increasing, not all departments will post notices! Other Departments or Agencies will post detailed information on upcoming projects on their own websites (DTA and GRDC often do this) and all departments should maintain up to date procurement plans on Austender, so it is worth checking these, just keep in mind that the dates are not always current.
– Get in touch with potential partners: One of the things that takes the longest when preparing tenders is determining and confirming subcontractors and partners for a particular opportunity. So if you have an idea of what may be coming up this year, then get in touch with companies you may want to partner with or add to your supply chain and get the conversation started now.
