The Next Generation Technologies Fund is a forward looking program which focuses on research and development in emerging and future technologies with a military application. The funding program looks to develop early ideas into innovation concepts that could further be explored and matured through the Defence Innovation Hub program and represents an investment of $730 million over the decade to June 2026.
The grant funding is based around nine priority themes, one of which is Integrated Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), the subject of this weeks opportunities. Defence has issued two new Requests for Proposal within the ISR theme, specifically around the subject of Intelligent Decision Superiority (i-DS) focusing in on: Distributed Multi-Domain Networks and Human-AI Interaction
Both funding opportunities will require the respondent to be eligible for a security clearance and both utilise the same application process. Proposals for up to 2.5 year research plans will be considered and successful proposals may be funded up to $100,000 in the first six months and up to $500,000 in subsequent years. Successful bidders will be contracted for 6 months with two 12 month extension options, based on the proposal’s development and feasibility. The closing date for the RFPs is 3rd December 2019.
