Most Requests for Tender (RFT) issued in the building and construction space tend to be Defence estate upgrades and remediation. As such, these RFTs require the consideration of security, heritage and Defence operational requirements when preparing a bid. However, Defence Housing Australia also provides a significant number of opportunties in this space and these opportunities are usually standard residential home design, construction, upgrade or demolition.
Defence Housing Australia (DHA) has been established to provide quality housing and related services to Defence members and families. This housing is required nationwide, usually in suburbs close to a Defence establishment and at times on a Defence base. DHA uses an amended form of an AS4300 construction contract which would be familiar to builders and the requirement is usually for multiple builds.
This week there are two new opportunities issued by DHA, the first is the demolotion of 4 on base homes in Victoria. A compulsory onsite briefing will be held on 7 Feb for this opportunity. The second is a ‘knock down and build’ of 2 homes in the ACT. Both submissions are required by the 15 Feb 18.
DHA building tenders are less onerous than those required by the Department of Defence and are a good entry point for companies considering buiding and constructing for government.
