Most finance and accounting work for government is undertaken by in-house staff and is seen as part of a department’s governance role. However, from time to time, packages of work will be outsourced either for independence such as auditing, or to provide specific expertise to assist in the development of detailed documents. This week sees two such Requests for Tender (RFTs) issued by the Department of Finance and the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO).
Finance is seeking assistance in the production of budget financial data published by the Australian Government. This will include data such as the Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook and Final Budget Outcome, as well as the Government’s monthly and annual Consolidated Financial Statements. The department is seeking industry expertise and requires that the tenderer’s principal(s) are members of either CPA Australia or the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. The initial opportunity will be for a period of 4 years with the potential of another 4 year extension. This RFT is due to close on the 27 October 17.
The ANAO is seeking auditing services to provide independent assurance on the financial statements adopted by the Future Fund Management Agency. There is a mandatory requirement for nominated staff to be Registered Company Auditors. This opportunity is for an initial 3 years with the potential of another 3 year extension. This RFT is due to close on the 25th October 17 and unlike most tenders requires physical lodgement at the ANAO tender box in Canberra.
