The long awaited Defence Support Services Panel RFT has just been released. This RFT has been in the pipeline for sometime and has involved various rounds of industry consultation to develop a ‘workable’ model. If you have seen the draft versions, the final conditions don’t differ too greatly, however the response form does. Defence has opted for a simpler electronic response form that is intended to simplify the tendering process for SMEs. This panel will replace the existing CAS-SS Panel arrangement which expires November 2017. For those looking to bid for the first time, the services required are quite varied and include Program Management, Engineering and Technical Services, Logistics, Corporate Performance, Authoring and Writing and Commercial Services.
While usually the domain of SMEs, a new feature of this panel is the concept of a Major Service Provider. Expressions of interest are being sought from companies who have capability against at least 70% of the service areas. These companies will have the opportunity to take on larger multi skilled jobs where they can make up their capability shortfall through SMEs who are also on the panel.
An industry brief is being held 31 May 17 in Canberra, however a live webcast will run simultaneously, and as with all industry briefs the information will be posted on Austender once the brief is concluded.
