Optimed – a new partner in Australian Government Indigenous Eye Health Program

Australian Company Optimed has been awarded a contract valued at around $2 million by a Consortium co-led by the Brien Holden Vision Research Institute and the Australian College of Optometry through working with Engineering Business to develop a successful tender.

Optimed will be delivering eye health equipment, installation and training to indigenous communities Australia wide as part of a national program funded by the Australian Government to provide eye health testing equipment, training and support to 105 nominated rural and remote Aboriginal Medical Services and Health sites around Australia.

Engineering Business worked closely with Optimed to produce a tender that could deliver on the requirements of the Department of Health through the Consortium, highlighting Optimed’s depth of experience in indigenous communities and thus satisfying the department’s priority of cultural sensitivity.

The contract potentially sees Optimed delivering 35 retinal cameras each year over a period of 3 years, supported by user training and ongoing maintenance.

Engineering Business firmly believes innovation and premium customer service is prevalent within small businesses and therefore strives to connect new SMEs to the delivery of government services.
